COCIN Leader Alleges Muslim-Muslim Presidency Is Persecuting Christians in Nigeria

Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, a senior official in the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN), has sparked debate by claiming that the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima represents “political persecution of Christians” in Nigeria.

Speaking on The Morning Brief on Channels Television, Rev. Dachomo questioned the religious composition of the nation’s top offices. He said, “Shettima is a Muslim, the president is a Muslim. Is that not complete genocide to Christians in the political world?”

The cleric further accused the federal government of pursuing an Islamic agenda that aims to dominate the country, urging Christians to remain vigilant and steadfast in their faith. “They are displaying an Islamic agenda. They want to control the whole country. All Christians should wake up and embrace the Bible, because these forces want to make every Christian convert to Islam by force,” he said.

Rev. Dachomo also highlighted rising tensions across parts of Nigeria, warning that Christians cannot remain silent as insecurity spreads. “We cannot continue to stay quiet because I cannot hand over my grandchildren to Islam. There is a clear agenda by extremists to seize control, and the nation is sleeping while ignoring those willing to help tackle insecurity,” he added.

The remarks come amid ongoing debates over Nigeria’s “Muslim-Muslim” presidency, raising concerns about religious representation and national cohesion.
