Comedian KlintonCod Defends Kemi Badenoch’s Boarding School Comments: “She Only Spoke the Truth”

Nigerian comedian Ekene Clinton Egbuna, popularly known as KlintonCod, has come to the defense of UK politician Kemi Badenoch following backlash over her recent comments about her time in a Nigerian boarding school.

Badenoch, the current leader of the UK Conservative Party, recently described her experience at Federal Government Girls College (FGGC), Sagamu, Ogun State, as “prison-like.” She recalled being forced to cut grass and clean toilets without running water a revelation that drew sharp criticism from many Nigerians online.

In a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter), KlintonCod questioned the outrage, stating that Badenoch simply spoke the truth about conditions many Nigerians endured in boarding schools.

“She said her boarding school was like a prison and everyone is angry,” he wrote. “I’ve told so many people stories from my own boarding school (boys only), and truthfully, it was prison-like tall fences, tight rules, labor. The only difference between us and actual prisoners was mid-term breaks.”

KlintonCod went further to compare his boarding school experience with the conditions in UK prisons, stating, “The few times I visited UK prisons for work, the inmates there had better quality of life than I did in boarding school.”

He concluded by urging Nigerians to separate personal dislike from facts. “It’s okay to dislike her, but it’s also okay to admit the truth when someone you dislike says it.”

Badenoch’s remarks have sparked renewed debate over the state of Nigerian educational institutions, with some agreeing with her assessment while others accuse her of tarnishing the country’s image abroad.
