Comedian Sanku Died in Loaned Lexus Amid Payment Dispute, Says Guarantor

Popular comedian Sanku lost his life in a car accident on September 2, 2025, while driving a 2012 Lexus RX 350 SUV that had been loaned to him.

The revelation came from his guarantor, content creator Folorunsho Olayinka, better known as Finest.

Finest, who stood as guarantor for Sanku’s purchase of the Lexus, explained the background of the deal and his involvement.

According to him, the vehicle was acquired for N7 million with an agreement for installment payments. By the time of the accident, Sanku had reportedly paid N12.28 million but still owed about N13 million.

Defending himself against speculations that he might have been linked to Sanku’s death, Finest stressed that he had nothing to gain.

“I was only a guarantor because the car dealer knew me. I only helped him. I wasn’t the one who told him to come to Ilorin; he requested a driver, and I provided one. So what would be my gain in killing someone who still owed so much? I don’t even know the driver,” he said.

He added that he had voice notes of Sanku thanking him for standing as guarantor. Finest further revealed that on the day of the accident, he sent his siblings and colleagues to the scene and also provided money for hospital treatment when victims complained about delays in care.

However, a close associate of Sanku, who requested anonymity, shared a different version of events. The source alleged that Sanku was under pressure to return the Lexus and swap it for a cheaper, Nigerian-used Toyota Venza due to an outstanding balance of N2.3 million.

In a WhatsApp recording obtained by our correspondent, Sanku was heard lamenting repeated calls to return the vehicle. His uncle, a policeman in Osogbo, reportedly advised him not to comply, warning of possible deceit.

Sanku eventually died along Ogbomoso Road in Oyo State. His colleague, actor Yemi Elesho, confirmed the tragic news on social media.

Shortly before his death, Sanku had proudly shared photos of the Lexus on TikTok with the caption, “Alhamdulilah for life, congratulations Adetola,” tagging Finest as the dealer.
