Cubana Chief Priest Case Put on Hold, Adjourned by Court.

A Federal High Court in Lagos has postponed the case against celebrity bartender, Cubana Chief Priest (Pascal Okechukwu), to June 25 for a mention.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had charged Okechukwu with allegedly mistreating and spraying Naira notes at a social event at Eko Hotel in Lagos on April 17.


He pleaded not guilty and was granted bail. At the last hearing on May 2, the defense counsel, Chikaosolu Ojukwu (SAN), indicated that both parties were exploring a settlement, and the court adjourned the case until June 5 for a report on the settlement.

However, the defense requested an adjournment, and the court has now fixed June 25 for the mention of the case.

The charges against Cubana Chief Priest allege that he tampered with N500 notes while dancing at the event, violating Section 21(1) of the Central Bank Act of 2007.

The case has been adjourned several times, with the latest development being the request for an adjournment by the defense. The court has granted the request, and the case will now be mentioned on June 25.
