Dangote Applauds Tinubu’s Vision on Infrastructure, Flood Mitigation

President of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has commended President Bola Tinubu’s administration for its visionary leadership in infrastructure development and strategic flood control efforts across the country.

In an open letter titled “Appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR”, which was shared by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Dangote praised several initiatives including the Eko Atlantic City project and the nationwide superhighway development.

Dangote highlighted the significance of the Bar Beach Land Reclamation initiative, describing it as a transformational project that has not only protected Victoria Island from ocean surges but also unlocked new residential and commercial opportunities. He likened its success to advanced land reclamation efforts in the Netherlands.

“This success story now a hub for residences, commerce, and recreation is among your lasting legacies. Those of us who reside in Victoria Island are immensely better off because of it,” Dangote noted, while crediting Tinubu’s foresight.

He also acknowledged President Tinubu’s commitment to resolving recurrent flooding in areas such as Ahmadu Bello Way, Akin Adesola Street, and Adetokunbo Ademola Street, among others.

Beyond flood management, Dangote applauded the commencement of two key highway projects: the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway and the long-awaited Sokoto-Badagry superhighway, describing the latter as the “resurrection of a 48-year-old vision.” He emphasized the significance of having a reputable firm like Hitech Construction Company Limited executing the projects.

Drawing parallels with the Netherlands’ innovative land reclamation practices in Zeeland, Dangote said the Bar Beach project mirrors the same ingenuity and resilience. “This reflects a spirit of innovation and determination values we see echoed in Nigeria’s coastal interventions under your leadership,” he added.

As part of his company’s social responsibility efforts, Dangote also extended condolences to families affected by recent flash floods in Kerr County, Texas, which claimed over 100 lives. He announced that the Aliko Dangote Foundation would soon unveil a Climate Fund aimed at assisting communities in Nigeria vulnerable to natural disasters.

Reacting to the open letter, Presidential aide Bayo Onanuga remarked that Dangote’s statement offers “a sincere assessment of President Tinubu’s impact” and sharply contrasts with opposition narratives that claim the administration has accomplished little in its first two years.
