Dangote Cracks Down on Unauthorised Use of Company Logo by Truckers
Dangote Industries Limited (DIL) has renewed its warning to truck operators against the unauthorised use of its logo, stressing that such actions are harming the company’s reputation.
The company noted that despite prior cautions, some truckers with no formal ties to Dangote continue to display the logo on their vehicles, often for personal gain. This misuse has led to incidents being wrongly attributed to the company, causing reputational damage.
Dangote stated that it would enhance monitoring in collaboration with security agencies and law enforcement, and pursue legal action against violators.
“We have repeatedly advised truckers not to use our logo without authorisation. Going forward, we will increase surveillance and take firm legal measures against misuse of the Dangote brand, particularly by trucks unaffiliated with our group,” the company said.
The statement also highlighted concerns over the spread of false information, particularly claims linking road accidents to Dangote trucks. The company urged the public and media to verify facts before dissemination to prevent exploitation of such incidents.
Dangote operates one of Africa’s largest commercial fleets, with over 12,000 trucks in Nigeria, including more than 3,000 owned by third-party contractors. On any given day, over 6,000 trucks are active in its logistics network, which supports more than 36,000 direct and indirect jobs.
