Daniel Bwala Resigns from PDP, Cites Failed Leadership and Loss of Party Ideals

Daniel M. Bwala, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Policy Communications, has formally resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing a loss of faith in the party’s leadership and direction.

In a resignation letter dated July 10, 2025, and addressed to the PDP Chairman of Garkida Ward, Gombi Local Government Area in Adamawa State, Bwala expressed his dismay over what he described as the party’s “declining commitment to purposeful and visionary leadership.”

“I hereby formally resign my membership from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), effective immediately,” the letter read. “This decision stems from my deep concern over the party’s deviation from the principles that initially attracted me principles rooted in service, integrity, and democratic progress.”

Bwala criticized the PDP’s current leadership for fostering internal discord, lacking strategic direction, and eroding public trust. According to him, the party has strayed from its original mission of accountability and progressive governance.

“A political party should be a vehicle for national development and the collective aspirations of the people. Sadly, the PDP no longer reflects those ideals,” he stated.

He concluded by expressing gratitude for the relationships and opportunities the party had provided during his time as a member.

Before his appointment by President Tinubu in November 2024, Bwala served as the spokesperson for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar during the 2023 presidential campaign.
