David De Gea Set to Stay at Fiorentina Despite Manchester United Links
Fiorentina goalkeeper David De Gea is expected to remain in Italy despite reports suggesting Manchester United were considering a surprise move to bring him back to Old Trafford.
According to SunSport, United had explored the possibility of re-signing the 34-year-old Spaniard, who left the club as a free agent two years ago, with current first-choice Andre Onana yet to fully convince.
De Gea, however, enjoyed an outstanding season in Serie A, making 42 appearances in all competitions and earning a nomination for goalkeeper of the year. His performances prompted Fiorentina to hand him a new contract running until 2028.
Transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio reports that the three-time Manchester United Player of the Year has no intention of leaving after just one campaign and is said to be fully settled at Fiorentina.
