Davido Claims His Song Was Former President’s Ringtone.

Afrobeats superstar Davido has revealed that his breakthrough hit “Dami Duro,” released in 2012, was allegedly the ringtone of former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan.

In a recent interview on Power 105.1 FM in the United States, Davido shared the story of how his father’s disapproval of his music career turned into support after the song’s massive success.

Davido’s father, Deji Adeleke, initially tried to shut down his music career by using the police and army to stop his shows and arrest promoters and artists involved.

However, when “Dami Duro” blew up, reportedly becoming the President’s ringtone, people began advising Davido’s father to allow him to pursue music.

Today, Davido and his father are best friends, and his father is heavily involved in his business and attends all his shows.
