Davido Joins Grammy Committee, Set to Vote at 2026 Awards
Afrobeats superstar Davido, whose real name is David Adedeji Adeleke, has officially joined the Recording Academy’s Grammy committee.
The announcement was made on September 23, 2025, via a video shared across the Academy’s social media platforms.
The clip featured Davido alongside U.S. rapper Offset, drummer Stewart Copeland, and other new members, all expressing excitement about their new roles.
In the video, the DMW label boss described his participation in the Grammy Awards process as “a game changer,” emphasizing the importance of artists having a voice in recognizing outstanding work.
“The importance of how our voices are heard and participating in the Grammy Awards is a game changer. I’ve learned how voting empowers you to have a say in what is considered and voted on each award season. I am honoured to be part of the Recording Academy community and I look forward to voting,” Davido said.
Voting for the 2026 Grammy Awards is set to begin in less than two weeks.
Although Davido has not yet won a Grammy, he has received four nominations. At the 66th Grammy Awards in 2024, he earned nods for Best Global Music Album (Timeless), Best African Music Performance (Unavailable featuring Musa Keys), and Best Global Music Performance (Feel).
In 2025, he received a fourth nomination for Best African Music Performance with Sensational, a collaboration with Chris Brown and Lojay, losing to Tems’ Love Me Jeje.
Social media reactions to Davido’s new role have been overwhelmingly positive. Fans expressed pride and anticipation, with comments like:
