Davido Reacts Calmly as Governor Ademola Adeleke Resigns From PDP
Nigerian music superstar Davido has reacted to the sudden resignation of his uncle, Osun State governor Ademola Adeleke from the opposition party Peoples Democratic Party.
The artist, who shared the development on his X account, simply wrote “Jeje…” as he reposted the governor’s resignation announcement. The brief remark immediately stirred conversations among fans and political observers who saw it as a subtle, measured response to the unfolding political tension in the state.
Governor Adeleke’s resignation letter, addressed to the PDP Ward 2 chairman in Ede North and dated November 4, 2025, cited long-standing internal disputes within the national leadership of the party. He noted that the unresolved crisis had made it difficult for him to continue under the party’s current structure.
The governor’s move comes at a sensitive time for the PDP, which is preparing for its 2026 governorship primary in Osun State. His exit has caused uncertainty within the party, with some members calling for the primary to be postponed until internal issues are resolved. However, the party’s National Working Committee has maintained that the primary will proceed as scheduled.
Complicating matters further is the fact that Governor Adeleke was the only aspirant who had purchased and submitted the nomination form before his withdrawal, leaving the party with significant gaps to fill ahead of the election cycle.
As speculation grows around the governor’s next political move, analysts and party stakeholders say his resignation is a major setback that may weaken the PDP’s position in the upcoming elections.
