D’banj Urges Federal Government to Mediate P-Square Family Feud

Veteran Afrobeats icon D’banj has called on the Nigerian federal government to step in and help resolve the ongoing feud between the legendary music duo P-Square—comprising twin brothers Peter and Paul Okoye—and their elder brother and former manager, Jude Okoye.

The family dispute escalated recently after Peter Okoye filed a lawsuit against Jude and his company, Northside Entertainment, alleging financial misconduct.

The controversy deepened when Paul publicly defended Jude, accusing Peter of attempting to damage their brother’s reputation.

The matter is currently before the courts and has sparked widespread public debate.

Speaking in an interview on Adesope Live, D’banj expressed sadness over the situation and appealed for reconciliation among the Okoye brothers. He urged the federal government and respected figures in the industry to intervene and help mediate.

“The conflict between Peter and Jude is very unfortunate,” D’banj said. “When disputes start, you never truly know how far they’ll go—whether you’re right or wrong.

But considering the legacy God has built through them, I believe this situation calls for proper intervention.”He continued, “I recently had a conversation with Peter during a flight.

He opened up about some things, and I told him I believe there’s still hope for reconciliation. It all comes down to dialogue.”

D’banj noted that if financial disagreements are at the core of the conflict, they could be resolved through structured negotiations. He emphasized the immense value of P-Square’s music catalogue, which could serve as a shared asset.

“They don’t have to come back as a group, but they should be able to resolve their issues,” he said. “If it’s a money issue, let them come to an agreement. I’ve had global music executives trying to buy my catalogue for years, but I’ve held onto it because I know its worth.

P-Square’s catalogue is just as valuable.”The Afrobeats star also called on influential figures—possibly even the federal government—to step in and mediate the dispute.“This is beyond what we, their colleagues, can handle. It needs someone they truly respect.

Maybe even the nation. I remember when a Nigerian bank went under with Jay Jay Okocha’s money. President Obasanjo intervened and ensured the matter was addressed because Jay Jay had made Nigeria proud.”
