Decentralization of Lottery Regulation Raises Security Concerns in Nigeria

A security expert and APC chieftain, Ambassador Abayomi Nurain Mumuni, has expressed concerns that decentralizing lottery regulation in Nigeria poses significant security challenges.

In a petition to the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, Mumuni argued that allowing state governments to manage lotteries, particularly online gaming, increases the risk of cyber-attacks, money laundering, and other security threats.

Mumuni’s concerns come after the Supreme Court nullified the National Lottery Act 2005, which could lead to state governments regulating lotteries independently.

He urged Ribadu to consider advocating for a more centralized approach to lottery regulation to address these security concerns.
