Delta APC, State Government Engage in War of Words Over Governor Oborevwori’s Rumored Defection

The Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the state government have been exchanging harsh words, sparked by speculation surrounding Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s potential defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to APC.

The APC described itself as “not a rehabilitation camp for failed politicians” and expressed disinterest in political opportunism or party affiliations driven by personal gains.

In contrast, the state government accused the APC of attempting to survive through unintelligent propaganda.

According to Valentine Onojeghuo, APC State Publicity Secretary, Governor Oborevwori’s tenure has been marked by underperformance, widespread disappointment, and an inability to deliver meaningful development to the people of Delta State.

The APC emphasized that while it respects individuals’ rights to associate with a political party of their choice, it remains unconcerned about the governor’s potential defection due to his alleged lack of tangible achievements since assuming office.

The APC also criticized Governor Oborevwori for squandering Delta State’s resources, despite receiving over N50 billion in federal allocations monthly.

However, Dr. Ifeanyi Osuoza, the Delta State Commissioner for Information, responded by saying that the APC is “living in crippling fear” of Governor Oborevwori and is resorting to unintelligent propaganda.
