Delta Police arrest man for defiling 13-yr-old girl

The Delta State Police Command has arrested a 41-years-old man, identified as Godwin Okon for defiling a 13-years-old girl who is the daughter of his neighbor.
In a video interview posted on X by the Public Relations Officer of the Delta State Police Command, SP Bright Edafe, the suspect, Godwin revealed that he defiled the 13 years old girl after the mother left her and other siblings with him to look after while she left for the market.
The suspect said; “it happened on the 3rd of January 2025, after her mother, who is my close neighbor left her and siblings for me to watch over. Although before then, I told her mother that I cannot look after her because the mother had never told me before to look after her children.

“So that day I was shocked. I told her that I can’t, that I want to sleep and I do not know how to watch over children. Then she began to plead.

“So when the mother finally left them with me, I entered their house and told her junior brother to go arrange the parlor, then I proceeded to the girl and told her to draw down the curtain of the window, and of the parlor then I pushed her to bed and I slept with her after which I left.

“Later I got a knock at my door, and when I opened it, I got a slap from a man who owns the place where the little girl is learning work. The little girl told them I believe. Right now I am ashamed of myself.

“I have no wife and no children. I only have a friend, and she has already left me. I only have mother, I am from Uyo, Akwa Ibom.”

Admonishing parents in the video, the Delta PRO wrote “Parents, be mindful of neighbours you ask to take care of your children in your absence. In Ogborikoko, a woman asked her neighbor, a 41-years-old suspect to take care of her children when she was going to market. Before she came back, this suspect entered the house of the neighbour, saw her 13-year-old daughter and brutally defiled her.”
