Democracy Set to Return in Rivers State – Fubara

Suspended Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has called on his supporters, residents of the state, and Nigerians at large to express gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his prompt intervention in preventing the political crisis in the state from escalating into chaos.

In a statement released on Thursday by his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, Fubara confirmed that the peace and reconciliation efforts aimed at reinstating him, his deputy, and the elected members of the State House of Assembly are progressing steadily.

Speaking during a meeting with leaders and stakeholders of the Simplified Movement to commemorate his two-year anniversary in office, Fubara expressed confidence that democratic governance and cooperation between the executive and legislative arms would soon be restored for the benefit of the people.

“I assure you that these issues will soon be resolved, and everyone will return to their respective positions in government,” he stated. “I believe the strong relationships we once had will be rebuilt, and together we’ll work for the progress of our state. Forgiveness is key.”

Fubara urged citizens to remain peaceful and supportive of the ongoing reconciliation process, emphasizing that President Tinubu’s wise and timely action averted a potential breakdown of law and order.

He added, “We are deep into the peace process. I sincerely thank the President for stepping in to stabilize the situation. Without him, the outcome might have been catastrophic. We must all put ego aside and commit to peace. The interest of the state must come first.”
