Diddy to be Sentenced October 3 After Split Verdict in Prostitution Case

Music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs is set to be sentenced on October 3, following his conviction on two prostitution-related charges.

The verdict came after an intense two-month trial where Combs was cleared of more serious charges, including racketeering and sex trafficking.

The 55-year-old producer was acquitted of operating a criminal enterprise and trafficking women, charges that could have led to a life sentence.

However, the jury found him guilty of transporting individuals for the purpose of prostitution, each count carrying up to 10 years in prison.

While the judge is unlikely to impose the maximum sentence, federal sentencing guidelines suggest a prison term between 51 to 63 months, though prosecutors may push for more. Combs’s legal team has countered with a lighter sentencing recommendation of 21 to 27 months, pointing to his non-commercial involvement in the offenses.

Combs has been held at a Brooklyn detention facility since September 2024, and this time will count toward his final sentence. The dramatic verdict was delivered on July 2, after just 13 hours of jury deliberation.

During the trial, prosecutors painted Combs as the head of a decades-long criminal network, accusing him of using employees and bodyguards to carry out illicit acts. However, the jury rejected the most serious claims, which Combs’s defense said were exaggerated.

Despite the partial acquittal, Judge Arun Subramanian denied a request for bail, citing Combs’s own admissions of past domestic violence a factor that helped the defense but also weighed heavily in the court’s decision to keep him behind bars.

The prosecution is expected to highlight Combs’s drug use, past violence, and his decision to continue illegal activity despite being under federal investigation. The defense, on the other hand, is arguing that his actions were personal and did not involve trafficking for profit.

This case has garnered widespread attention and is being called one of the most expensive prostitution trials in U.S. history. With sentencing now scheduled, both sides are preparing to make their final arguments in court.
