DJ Tunez Reveals Efforts to Unite Wizkid and Davido Remain His Toughest Career Mission

Nigerian-American disc jockey Michael Babatunde Adeyinka, popularly known as DJ Tunez, has disclosed that reconciling Afrobeats heavyweights Wizkid and Davido has been the most challenging task in his music career.

During a recent live session on X (formerly Twitter), the longtime Wizkid collaborator spoke candidly about the deep-rooted rivalry between the two music giants and how it has affected his personal mission to foster unity in the industry.

When asked what his toughest experience has been, he didn’t hesitate. “My biggest challenge? Getting Wizkid and Davido to love each other that’s definitely it,” he said, his tone reflecting both disappointment and hope.

Despite being closely associated with Wizkid as his official DJ, Tunez has made repeated attempts behind the scenes to broker peace between the duo.

But tensions between the two Afrobeats superstars have remained persistent, flaring up at different times over the years. Their latest online spat in October 2024, which saw them trade thinly veiled jabs on social media, only deepened the divide.

The perceived competition between Wizkid and Davido has long polarized fans, with each artist commanding a fiercely loyal following. While both have occasionally hinted at respect for each other’s craft, their inability to maintain a cordial relationship has left fans yearning for a major collaborative moment that could change the trajectory of the genre globally.

DJ Tunez is not the only industry player pushing for peace. Artists like Iyanya and music executive Asa Asika have also called for the two Afrobeats titans to let go of personal differences for the greater good of the Nigerian music scene. Many believe that a joint project from Wizkid and Davido would not only shatter streaming records but also solidify Afrobeats’ presence as a global cultural force.

Tunez’s revelation highlights the emotional and professional toll the feud has taken on insiders who genuinely want to see the music industry thrive without internal division. For now, fans continue to hope that one day, Wizkid and Davido might set aside their differences not just for a moment of unity, but for a legacy-defining collaboration.
