Dortmund Close in on Chukwuemeka, Buonanotte Deals in Midfield Revamp
Borussia Dortmund are nearing deals for Chelsea midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka and Brighton’s Facundo Buonanotte as the club pushes forward with its midfield overhaul ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
According to reports from Sky Sports and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, talks for Chukwuemeka are progressing quickly, with a loan move in the works.
Chelsea are reportedly willing to part with the 21-year-old for around €25 million down from their initial €35–40 million valuation. Personal terms have already been agreed with the player, Romano adds.
In addition, Dortmund are preparing a formal bid for 20-year-old Buonanotte, who has attracted significant interest following his performances at Brighton.
Dortmund’s transfer activity this summer has been modest so far, with permanent deals completed for former loanees Yan Couto and Daniel Svensson, as well as the signing of Jobe Bellingham.
The potential double signing of Chukwuemeka and Buonanotte would mark a significant step in sporting director Sebastian Kehl’s recruitment strategy. There are also growing rumours of a possible return for Jadon Sancho.
Dortmund begin their competitive season on August 18 with a DFB-Pokal fixture against third-tier side Rot-Weiss Essen. Club officials are hoping to finalise their key transfer moves before then.
