Dr. Uzor Cares Foundation has encouraged students with a bursary award and launched the foundation to help humanity.
Dr. Uzor Cares Foundation is described as a non-governmental organization aimed at empowering students and people from Udị Local Government Area and Ezeagu Local Government Area,
The bursary award is to help and encourage students and people with challenges in Ezeagu Local Government Area. Some students who have not been privileged to be in school or pay their fees were given a cheque of ₦100,000 worth of 8.7million Naira to 87 students as support for their well-being.
The event held at Amadeo Event Center on Friday in Enugu, with many dignitaries in attendance. The Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, was represented by the Deputy Governor of Enugu State, Barr. Ifeanyi Osai. Other notable attendees included the Auxillary Catholic bishop of Enugu diocese represented by Rev. Fr. Calistus Ezenwa, former Minister of Power Prof. Chinedu Nebo, Prof. Monsgr Obiora Ike,Monsgr Edward Kanife, Senator Osita Ngwu, and Ezeagu Local Government Chairman Hon. Vitalis Ndu.Hon. Okey Aneke member representing Ụdị South,Hon. Hyginus Agu chairman Udi local government area amongs all.
The Governor of Enugu State, represented by the Deputy Governor, commended Dr. Festus Uzor for the wonderful initiative. He stated that he was giving thanks to Dr. Festus Uzor’s family for enduring and helping people in need. He urged the beneficiaries to read more to make the organization proud, saying, “Education is not just about learning, but also about character and using what you have to change the world.”
He also advised parents present to desist from taking their children or wards to other states to write examinations and engage in malpractices. “You are spoiling them, and one day they will disappoint you,” he said.
In an interview with the founder of Dr. Uzor Cares Foundation, Dr. Festus Uzor, he stated that he is a medical doctor and has served in public service. He hails from Agobuowa in Ezeagu Local Government Area. Dr. Uzor Cares Foundation is a foundation of ten trustees, and their motivation is to contribute what they can to people who are facing challenges.
Dr. Uzor stated that their passion is to create a better society, and their objectives are aligned with the betterment of the state, which is about human capital development. “We are just giving back; it’s not that we have all, but we can’t wait to have all before we can give to others,” he said.
The beneficiaries expressed their joy and prayed for God to bless the foundation and its founder. One of the beneficiaries, Emmanuel, from Enugu State University of Science and Technology, expressed his profound happiness for the award, saying, “This is an investment Dr. Uzor Cares Foundation has made in me, and I promise to remunerate this and replicate this benevolence to others. I promise to make Dr. Uzor Cares Foundation and the entire world proud and not to be a wasted investment.”
