Drama at PDP Headquarters as Staff Walk Out, Reject Senator Anyanwu’s Return as National Secretary

Tensions erupted at the National Secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as staff and management shut their offices and staged a dramatic protest against the return of Senator Samuel Anyanwu as National Secretary.

The chaos unfolded after Anyanwu stormed the party headquarters accompanied by suspected thugs in an attempt to reclaim his office despite the National Working Committee (NWC) having appointed Setonji Koshoedo as acting National Secretary, a decision staff had publicly backed.

Eyewitnesses said Anyanwu made his way directly into the secretary’s office with his aides, prompting an immediate walkout by staff who refused to work with him.

“He was advised by his aides to quietly leave when he realized the office was empty, and staff had vacated the premises in protest.

This dramatic protest signals deep divisions within the party’s leadership, as staff loyalty appears firmly aligned with the NWC. Many allege Anyanwu is acting as a mole for the ruling APC, aiming to destabilize the PDP ahead of the 2027 elections a claim yet to be verified.

The standoff further fuels concerns over the PDP’s internal cohesion and its readiness for the next general elections. Despite the uproar, the PDP has yet to issue an official statement, and attempts to reach the party’s spokesperson, Debo Ologunagba, were unsuccessful.
