Ebonyi’s Ex-Speaker Nwazunku Dumps PDP for APC, Cites Governor Nwifuru’s Performance.

Former Speaker of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly and immediate past Federal House of Representatives member for Ebonyi/Ohaukwu Federal Constituency, Hon. Chukwuma Nwazunku, has officially left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Nwazunku announced his defection during a meeting of the Echiaba Ward held at the residence of Hon. Amobi Nwofoke, the Ward Chairman of the APC.

He was welcomed into the APC alongside other notable PDP defectors, including the party’s 2023 senatorial candidate for Ebonyi North, Hon. Emeka Otozi, the PDP Ward Chairman for Echiaba, and several political allies.

Chief Patrick Orogbo, APC Chairman for Ebonyi Local Government Area, received the new members on behalf of the State Chairman.

He applauded their decision, promising equal treatment and inclusion within the party. Orogbo emphasized APC’s commitment to transparency, inclusiveness, and internal democracy.

Hon. Nwofoke commended Ebonyi State Governor, Rt. Hon. Francis Nwifuru, for his impactful governance over the past two years.

He noted that the governor’s developmental achievements have weakened opposition forces and fostered political unity in the state.Speaking after his defection, Chief Nwazunku revealed that while he remained in the PDP physically, he had long lost faith in the party due to its internal disarray and waning relevance.

He credited Governor Nwifuru’s performance and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership as his motivation for joining the APC.Nwazunku pledged to rally his supporters across the state to secure victory for the APC in the 2027 general elections.
