Economic Hardship Prevents Many Nigerian Families from Celebrating Christmas, Says Labour Party

The Labour Party has expressed concern that numerous citizens in Nigeria are unable to participate in the 2024 Christmas celebrations due to the ongoing economic difficulties plaguing the nation.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Obiora Ifoh, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, conveyed remarks made by the LP’s National Chairman, Barr Julius Abure, in his Christmas message directed at Nigerians and party supporters.

Abure emphasized the importance of compassion, urging Nigerians to extend their love and support to the millions struggling below the poverty line.

He remarked, “It may surprise you to learn that many households in Nigeria cannot partake in today’s Christmas festivities due to the economic challenges we are facing.”

He continued, “I implore society to offer help to those who may be lacking in one way or another. God demonstrated his love for humanity by sacrificing his only son for our redemption.

This profound sacrifice reminds us that the true essence of celebration lies in our ability to embody the significance of Christ’s birth in our lives.”
