Edo Governorship Election: PDP Vows to Upturn Result as Tribunal Resumes
The Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reaffirmed its commitment to contesting the results of the September 21, 2024 governorship election, which was won by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate, Monday Okpebholo.
The party made this vow as the State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal resumed sitting. In a communiqué released after a meeting of the party leadership, including its governorship candidate, Asue Ighodalo, the PDP reiterated its resolve to reclaim the mandate it believes was duly given to it by the people of Edo State.
The party urged its supporters to continue praying for its progress and that of its gubernatorial candidate.The Edo State PDP expressed concern over the current state of the state under the APC-led administration, citing significant setbacks in the last few months.
The party reaffirmed its commitment to upholding constitutional democracy and the rule of law in the state.
The PDP also commended its leaders, Tony Aziegbemi and Asue Ighodalo, for their outstanding leadership and efforts in piloting the party’s affairs in the state, which have fostered unity and progress.
