Ekiti State government, demands N10 million from Chef Dammy’s pastor

Chef Dammy, a renowned chef from Nigeria, has taken legal action against Jeremiah Adegoke and the Ekiti State Police Command, filing a lawsuit at the Ekiti State High Court in Ado Ekiti.

The lawsuit was filed by the Directorate of Citizens Rights (DCR), which operates under the Ekiti State Ministry of Justice.

The DCR has requested that the court intervene and put a halt to the detention of Chef Dammy by Mr. Adegoke and the police. Additionally, they are seeking N10 million in damages due to the chef’s unsuccessful attempt to break a Guinness World Record.

The lawsuit was initiated shortly after reports emerged that Chef Dammy had been arrested under the orders of Mr. Adegoke, who is also her pastor.

In October, the 24-year-old chef aired her concerns about alleged harassment and continual threats from individuals, including her pastor, leading to a conflict between Chef Dammy and Mr. Adegoke.

As a result, the Mass Communication student in her third year at the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), claimed to have experienced intimidation and harassment, which caused her to fear for her safety.

The exact nature of the dispute between the chef and her once-supportive pastor remains unclear, but it appears that their disagreement stemmed from the failed cook-a-thon event.

The lawsuit seeks a declaration that the pastor, along with Mr. Samuel and the Nigerian police, have violated the fundamental human rights of Chef Dammy through ongoing harassment, molestation, threats of arrest, and intimidation.
