Enugu 2024 Election: PDP’s Barr. Ugo Ferdinand Leads with Over 50,000 Votes in Igboeze South Local Government

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Igboeze South Local Government Area, Barr. Ugo Ferdinand, is leading in the ongoing local government elections, according to the results released so far.

Announcing the results, the returning officer for the exercise, Dr. Odoh Longinus, declared that the election was conducted in a free, fair, and credible manner. Barr. Ugo Ferdinand garnered a total of 52,810 votes, significantly ahead of his closest rival, Hon. Ogbonna Joshua of the Labour Party, who secured 4,247 votes.

Dr. Longinus also noted that the final declaration of the winner will be made by the chairman of the electoral commission, Prof. Chris Chimdubem Ngwu. He commended the efforts of security agencies in maintaining peace throughout the election and praised voters for their active participation, which demonstrates the community’s dedication to democratic governance.

In his reaction to the election, Rt. Hon. Erochukwu Ugwueze, a former member of the Enugu State House of Assembly, hailed the outcome as a positive step towards strengthening democracy in Igboeze South LGA. He applauded the smooth conduct of the electoral process and called on all political parties to accept the will of the people.

Ugwueze further emphasized the need for unity and cooperation among all stakeholders to foster continued development in Igboeze South Local Government Area.
