Enugu Assembly Sets Date for Public Hearing on Landlord and Tenant Bill Amendment
The Enugu State House of Assembly’s Joint Committee on Housing, Foreign Investments, Judiciary, Public Petitions, Ethics and Privileges has announced a one-day public hearing on the proposed amendment to the Landlord and Tenant Second Amendment Bill, House Bill No. 3, 2025. The hearing, according to the Committee, is scheduled to hold on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, by 10:00 AM at the Hallowed Chamber of the Enugu State House of Assembly complex.
In a statement signed by Hon. Anthony Okey Mbah, Chairman of the Joint Committee, the Assembly extended a formal invitation to the general public, traditional rulers, land and tenants associations, as well as key stakeholders in the housing sector. The hearing, the Committee emphasized, is designed to give every stakeholder the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the proposed legislative changes.
The Committee noted that the amendment seeks to address emerging issues in landlord-tenant relationships in the state, ensuring that the law reflects the current realities facing property owners, tenants, and the housing sector at large. It assured that all submissions made during the public hearing will be critically considered before the bill is passed into law.
Stakeholders and interested members of the public are therefore encouraged to participate actively, as their contributions are expected to shape a more balanced and effective legal framework governing tenancy matters in Enugu State.
