Enugu First Lady Urges Women to Embrace Hard Work and Prayer for Societal Progress
Enugu women have been urged to embrace the spirit of hard work and prayers in all they do, as it is the best way to overcome the economic challenges facing society.
The Wife of the Governor of Enugu State, Mrs. Nkechinyere Iheoma Mbah, gave this advice on Wednesday during the Enugu Women’s monthly prayer meeting held at Michael Ọkpara Square, Independence Layout, Enugu.
Mrs. Mbah, who was represented by the wife of the Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Mrs. Chinyere Fina Ugwu, remarked that women are the pillars of every family, and for a family to progress, it requires constant hard work and prayers in all aspects and at all times.
The first lady, noted that families blessed with hardworking and prayerful women tend to be more successful than others, as these qualities build a foundation for peace and unity.
She urged the women to not only work diligently but also to support one another, especially during challenging times.
“By cultivating a community of prayer and mutual assistance, we strengthen the bonds that hold society together,”.
“We must be each others keeper and ensure that we are hardworking and prayerful.”
Delivering the sermon of the day, entitled “Sowing and Reaping,” Pastor Chinyere Oluoma highlighted the importance of women engaging in both physical and spiritual sowing for the progress of their families.
She explained that the act of sowing should be reflected in every area of life, as the rewards are often numerous.
“We as women must learn to sacrifice by sowing seeds in all we do,” she stated. “This is because, when we sow respect, honor, obedience, humility, good health, and peace, the rewards are bound to follow.”
Pastor Oluoma, also described women as instruments that hold families together, noting that when women make it a habit to sow and sacrifice for others, the blessings of God will always follow them.
In her prayer address, the coordinator of the prayer group, Dr. Favour Ugwuanyi (MNI), urged the women to consistently help their fellow women who are in need, whether through prayers, advice, financial support, or food.
She pointed out that one of the greatest challenges facing women in society is barrenness, which she said has led to the breakdown of many homes.
Dr. Ugwuanyi called for dedicated prayers against the spirit of barrenness, particularly for women in the state.
She encouraged the women to remain patient and hopeful in their journey toward motherhood, stressing the power of collective prayer in bringing about positive change.
She also urged the government to offer more support to women struggling with infertility, through access to better healthcare and counseling services.
