The Executive Chairman of Enugu North Local Government Area, Dr. Ibenaku Onoh, has flagged off the “Tomorrow is Here” two-month free vocational training programme for over 100 residents of the local government.

The programme, anchored by Potter’s Will Foundation, commenced on Monday, June 17, 2025, with the aim of equipping beneficiaries with practical entrepreneurial skills for self-reliance.

Speaking during the commencement of the programme, which was held at Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu, the Enugu North Local Government Chairman, Dr. Ibenaku Harford Onoh, who was represented by the Special Assistant on New Media, Mr. Justin Ekwueme, commended the participants for turning up in large numbers.

He stated that his administration is highly focused on youth and women empowerment through capacity-building initiatives; adding that such programmes have been done before and will continue to happen across various vocations in line with the youth and women empowerment roadmap of the administration of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah.

Mr. Ekwueme also praised Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for his efforts towards experiential and vocational learning, which he said is gradually improving the state.

“We are proud of the kind of Governor we have in Enugu State. He is not waiting for people to depend on handouts. He is changing lives by making sure people have real skills they can use to make money.”

“He has shown again and again that practical training can change families and reduce suffering. What he is doing with vocational learning is already showing results, and we are happy to support and replicate this vision here in Enugu North Local Government Area.”

Speaking at the event, Mr. Godsown Onuzulike, President of Potter’s Will Foundation, revealed that the training would cover over 40 different vocational skills, which include baking and confectionery, natural beverages, hygienic products, skincare production, and other household-oriented crafts.

He lauded Dr. Ibenaku Onoh partnering with the foundation and also for providing the necessary training equipment and support.

Mr. Onuzulike further disclosed that the beneficiaries would also be empowered at the end of the programme to kick-start their businesses.

He also described the initiative as a bold step in tackling unemployment and boosting small-scale enterprises in the local government.

In her remarks, one of the trainees, Miss Chukwunaeche Chika, expressed gratitude to Dr. Onoh for the opportunity to acquire skills at no cost. She noted that the training would help her become self-reliant and expressed hope that she would be among those empowered upon completion of the programme.
