Enugu Police Arrest Five Armed Robbery Suspects, Recover Stolen Tricycles
The Enugu State Police Command has successfully apprehended five individuals linked to armed robbery and “one-chance” criminal operations in the state.
The arrests were carried out by operatives of the Anti-Cultism Tactical Squad during coordinated operations conducted between November 22 and December 1, 2025.
The suspects 19-year-old Ikechukwu Patrick, 21-year-old Odoh David, 37-year-old Izuchukwu Ogbodo, 39-year-old Charles Ekenechukwu Egwuatu, and 37-year-old Justina Dike were caught with an imitation gun, four stolen tricycles, a scissor blade, multiple master keys, and several SIM cards.
Patrick and Odoh were first apprehended on November 22 with the assistance of the Neighbourhood Watch Group. Investigations revealed that the duo belonged to the Supreme Vikings Confraternity and had planned to carry out armed robberies.
The arrests and confessions from Patrick and Odoh led police to Ogbodo, from whom six master keys and five MTN SIM cards were recovered.
Further investigations implicated Dike and Egwuatu, who admitted to participating in “one-chance” operations and dealing in hard drugs.
Some of the recovered tricycles, including vehicles with registration numbers JRV 461 WZ and ENU 018 VG, were reportedly exchanged for drugs at locations in New Garriki.
In a statement, the Enugu Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Giwa, commended the operatives for their diligence and assured residents of continued security enforcement during the festive season. He also directed the police to apprehend remaining members of the syndicate and recover additional stolen items.
