Enugu Police Dismantle Illegal Gun Factory, Recover Assorted Weapons and Arrest Cultist Informant.
In a major security breakthrough, the Enugu State Police Command has uncovered and dismantled an illegal firearms fabrication workshop in Udi Local Government Area, recovering a cache of weapons, ammunition, and tools used for gun production.
According to a statement released by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, the operation was carried out by operatives of the Anti-Cultism Tactical Squad on June 30, 2025, following credible intelligence.
The intelligence was obtained after the arrest and confession of one Ekene Okafor, identified as a member of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity, who led the operatives to the illicit workshop.
The Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, praised the officers for the successful raid and assured residents of the Command’s unwavering commitment to tackling the spread of illegal firearms and criminal activities across the state.
“We remain dedicated to protecting lives and property. The public is urged to continue sharing credible information with the police to support our operations,” CP Giwa stated.
The Command also confirmed that the suspected owner of the firearms workshop is currently at large, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend him.
SP Ndukwe further emphasized the need for public vigilance, urging citizens to report suspicious activities promptly. He noted that the success of the operation underscores the effectiveness of intelligence-led policing and community cooperation.
