Enugu South Chairman Urges Global Investors to Tap into Region’s Agricultural Potential

The Chairman of Enugu South Local Government area of Enugu State, Hon. Caleb Ani, has called on global investors to consider the area as a prime destination for investment.

The Chairman made the call during the Enugu South Day celebration at the ongoing 36th Enugu International trade Fair, organised by the Enugu state Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, ECCIMA.

The Enugu South Day, within the trade fair, served as a platform to showcase the local government’s abundant natural resources and untapped investment opportunities.

Hon. Ani highlighted the area’s favorable tropical climate, as a cornerstone for sustainable economic growth, positioning the local government as a hub for food security and export-oriented agribusiness.

He emphasized that Enugu South is not only rich in fertile land but also benefits from a supportive ecosystem for agribusiness, including access to local markets and a skilled workforce.

The Mayor lauded Governor Peter Mbah for his transformative leadership, which has catalyzed progress across multiple sectors in Enugu State.

According to him, ” What we have done today is showcasing the various agricultural products that the local government has, cascading the development efforts of the governor, Dr. Peter Mbah down to the local government level.

“What the governor is doing is encompassing, touching every sphere of the economy. In the agricultural sector, the governor is establishing farmer estates which will cut across 260 wards of the state.

Aside from the agriculture potentials of Enugu South, we have the international building materials market, located along the express, we have Garriki market, and other areas where you can market your products.
As a local government, the governor’s visionary development blueprint has inspired local initiatives, enabling Enugu South to deliver tangible democratic dividends to our grassroots communities.” He said.

In his opening remark, ECCIMA President Odega Jideun Hon. Ani for the remarkable achievements in the area council, particularly in fostering economic empowerment and social progress.

He expressed ECCIMA’s eagerness to partner with the local government to promote locally made products.

” The presence of Enugu South local government in the trade fair is quite instructive and it is contributing to the success of the fair. The value, potentials and place of Enugu South local government in the economic development of Enugu state and Nigeria at larger, once again comes into focus.”

For us in the chamber, we are prepared to partner with all stakeholders that are ready to join in the development strides of the state governor, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, we just do not share in his vision, but we have to keep the flag flying through platforms such as this trade fair.”

Let me commend the Enugu South local government chairman, Hon. Onyema Ani for his giant strides and development efforts in his council . We are hopeful that with this partnership we will put Enugu state on the global map of economic advancement.’ He concluded

Highlight of the event was the display of agricultural produce from the local government, featuring staples like yam, water yam, palm oil, and local delicacy, abacha, among other food items.
