Enugu State’s Governor Receives Accolades for Supporting Livestock Resilience Project”
Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah of Enugu State has received commendation for his timely release of ₦60 million, which represents three years’ accrued counterpart funds, for the commencement of the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRESS), a World Bank initiative.
Dr. Ifeyinwa Elizabeth Nnajieze, the State Project Coordinator of Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES), made this announcement in a statement sent to the press on Wednesday. She expressed her optimism that this project, to be domesticated within the state, will play a pivotal role in realizing the Governor’s vision of positioning Enugu as a leading state in Nigeria in terms of Gross Domestic Product and achieving a zero percent poverty headcount index.
Dr. Nnajieze emphasized that the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project is a collaborative effort between the World Bank and Nigeria, aiming to enhance livestock production, value addition, and technological interventions throughout the livestock value chain.
She further stated, “This proposed 6 year project will align with the government’s new policy direction and reinforce state priorities by boosting livestock productivity, attracting youth and private sector participation in livestock farming, and strengthening crisis management systems for the livestock sub-sector.”
Dr. Nnajieze expressed the importance of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s commitment to ensuring the successful delivery of the project across the state and reiterated her dedication to making Enugu a benchmark for other states in Nigeria. She also assured that the project’s benefits would be far-reaching.
“With our Governor’s timely intervention, we will get the work done and make it very effective within the next 6 years.”
