Ex-Arsenal Star Thomas Partey Given Bail Conditions Ahead of Rape Trial
Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has had his bail conditions formally set as he awaits trial on multiple serious criminal charges.
Appearing before Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, Partey, 32, was ordered not to contact any of the three women involved in the case. He must also inform authorities of any permanent change in residence or international travel plans.
Chief Magistrate Paul Goldspring, who presided over the hearing, acknowledged that Partey is now based in Spain following his recent move to La Liga side Villarreal.
“I understand he’s no longer employed in this country and playing in Spain now,” he remarked.
The Ghanaian international is facing five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault, with all alleged offences involving three separate women during his time as an Arsenal player.
Partey officially left Arsenal at the end of June after his contract expired. The charges were filed just four days after his departure from the club.
He is scheduled to appear at the Old Bailey on September 2 for the next stage of the legal proceedings.
