Families Accuse Former Kogi Deputy Governor, Security Operatives of Cover-Up in Alleged Double Murder Case

A disturbing case of alleged double homicide has emerged in Kogi State, with the families of a Deputy Superintendent of Corrections, Oluwapelumi Adebayo, and a photographer, Ayo Aiyepeku, accusing former Kogi State Deputy Governor, Chief Edward David Onoja (CEDO), and several others of conspiracy, cover-up, and tampering with evidence.

In a formal petition to the Inspector General of Police, the families’ legal representatives outlined serious allegations involving murder, media manipulation, and obstruction of justice. The petition claims both men were murdered on July 22, 2025, at a property owned by CEDO in Lokoja, opposite the Kogi State Government House.

The property, reportedly shared by the victims for work and residence, allegedly became the scene of a sinister plot. According to the petition, the tragedy began with a family dispute between Pelumi and his wife, Laureen Adebayo (CEDO’s niece), which led to his ban from their joint farm business. Subsequent events suggest a calculated setup involving multiple individuals including local government officials, members of the Kogi State Vigilante Service, and aides to the former deputy governor.

The petition cites phone logs, suspicious messages, and eyewitness contradictions, arguing that Pelumi was wrongly framed for Ayo’s death and then murdered. Allegations also include interference with forensic evidence, an illegal hotel room sealing by the LGA Chairman, and attempts to control the media narrative using personal photos and details.

The letter demands a full forensic investigation, access to call logs, social media exchanges, and the geolocation data of all implicated parties. The families insist the deaths were not the result of a murder-suicide, but rather a carefully orchestrated double homicide with powerful political figures at the center.

As investigations commence, the bereaved families continue their call for justice, pressing the authorities to expose the truth and ensure accountability at all levels.
