Fani-Kayode Blames Trump for Fueling Insurgency in Nigeria, Warns Against Foreign Interference

Former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode has sharply criticised US President Donald Trump, accusing him of worsening insecurity in Nigeria through misleading comments.

Fani-Kayode reacted strongly after Trump claimed that the Nigerian government had done little to curb violence and kidnappings in the country.

In a detailed public statement, Fani-Kayode described Trump’s remarks as dangerous, deceptive, and provocative, warning Nigerians not to trust his intentions.

“Dear fellow Nigerians, every time this blonde-haired, blue-eyed bully opens his mouth, more attacks, killings, and abductions follow,” Fani-Kayode wrote, describing Trump as a “racist, religious bigot and war-monger.”

The former minister argued that Trump’s statements embolden violent groups and undermine Nigerian institutions, effectively fuelling insurgency. He claimed such commentary serves as justification for foreign interference and efforts to weaken Nigeria for political and economic gain.

Fani-Kayode also compared Nigeria’s situation to crises in Sudan and Congo, alleging that foreign powers used similar tactics to destabilise governments before unleashing violence on civilians. He referenced past conflicts where international meddling escalated crises, warning of a similar pattern targeting Nigeria.

Highlighting what he called Trump’s hypocrisy, Fani-Kayode pointed out the former US president’s welcoming of foreign leaders allegedly hostile to Christians, contrasting it with his professed concern for Nigerian Christians.
