Fatima Buhari Breaks Down in Daura as Final Rites Begin for Late President Buhari.
Fatima Buhari, the first daughter of late former President Muhammadu Buhari, arrived in Daura on Tuesday visibly emotional as preparations intensified for her father’s burial.
Fatima was seen in tears and being comforted by family members and close associates, including APC chieftain Maryam Shettima. Her arrival marked a deeply personal moment amid the national mourning for the late Nigerian leader.
Family members, political allies, and dignitaries have converged on Daura, Buhari’s hometown, as the nation prepares to lay the former president to rest.
According to the burial schedule, funeral prayers will take place at the Emir’s Palace by 2:00 PM, followed by interment at the late president’s private residence.
The passing of Buhari on Sunday, July 13, at a London hospital after a prolonged illness triggered a wave of tributes from across Nigeria and beyond.
Tuesday was declared a public holiday by the federal government to honor his legacy and allow citizens to participate in the state burial.
Heavy security presence has been reported in Katsina, especially around Daura, with high-ranking officials, foreign envoys, and military dignitaries expected to attend the solemn event.
