Federal College of Education, Ilawe Ekiti Matriculates 317 Pioneer Students

The Federal College of Education, Ilawe Ekiti in Ekiti State, formally matriculated its 317 pioneer students on Wednesday, marking a significant milestone in the institution’s history.

The matriculation ceremony, held at the college auditorium, saw the students officially admitted into various academic programs of the institution.

In his keynote lecture titled “Teacher Education and Nigeria’s National Development,” Prof. Femi Mimiko, former Vice Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko warned students against distractions that could derail their future prospects and emphasized the importance of teacher education as the foundation for national growth.

Provost of the College, Prof. Ajigbade Ikuejube, congratulated the pioneer students and charged them to uphold discipline, diligence and moral uprightness throughout their studies.

He reiterated the college’s commitment to producing competent teachers who will significantly contribute to Nigeria’s educational development.

The Registrar, Mrs. Wuraola Garba, administered the matriculation oath, marking the students’ formal enrollment. Oba Adebanji Alabi, former Chairman of the Ekiti State Council of Traditional Rulers and the Alawe of Ilawe Ekiti, praised the Federal Government for establishing the college which he said has created numerous opportunities for young people and reduced admission struggles.

The monarch also assured the institution of ongoing community support, including recently providing solar-powered electricity to the offices of principal officers and the construction of a police station by the Ekiti South West Local Government for enhanced security.

Among the notable attendees were JAMB State Coordinator Mr. Kayode Dada representatives of the Ekiti State House of Assembly traditional rulers and other dignitaries who lauded the college’s vision and impact on education in Ekiti State.

The matriculation heralds the beginning of a promising journey for the pioneer students, with the institution emphasizing academic excellence, moral values, and community service as pillars for the future.
