The Court of Appeal declared Uzodike the winner of the March 18, 2023 House of Assembly election, removing Destiny Nwagwu of the Labour Party (LP) from office in the process.

Uzodike spoke to journalists in Umuahia about his situation and requested that Governor Alex Otti respect the law and pressure the Speaker into inaugurating him immediately.

He expressed disappointment that his constituents have been without representation for the past five months despite receiving a Certificate of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on December 13, 2023.

Uzodike also mentioned that the Abia State High Court in Obehie, Ukwa LGA, dismissed a case filed by his opponent, Destiny Nwagwu, on March 19, 2024. Nwagwu had claimed to be personally investigating Uzodike’s credentials.

According to Uzodike, the House had scheduled his inauguration for January 18, 2024, but the Speaker allegedly informed him that he could not be sworn in because the powers-that-be did not want it to happen. He displayed his Certificate and Certified True Copy (CTC) of the judgment during the interview.

Junior Pope, along with four other actors, tragically lost their lives when their boat overturned in the Anam River in Anambra State on April 10, following a movie shoot.

The funeral arrangements for the late Nollywood actor John Paul Odonwodo, who perished in a boating accident along with Junior Pope and three other actors, have been disclosed by his family.

On Friday, May 17, Junior Pope will be laid to rest at his rural residence following a burial mass at Saint Peter’s Catholic Church, Ukehe.

The funeral proceedings will conclude with a thanksgiving mass at Saint Peter’s Catholic Church in Ukehe on May 20th.

The fact that repeated and several attempts and efforts by Nsukka people and their allies to create Adada State failed does not mean that its creation is not possible again. It is. This is considering that no new state has been created in Nigeria since 1996, before the military handed over power to democratically elected government in 1999.

As people of Nsukka work, pray, and await the creation of Adada State, it is interesting and good that the immediate past Governor of Enugu State, a visionary leader and true son of Nsukka, has provided in earnest some critical infrastructure and edifices in Nsukka in anticipation and readiness for it to assume the enviable status of the capital of Adada State.

These infrastructure include the dualised and illuminated Opi-Nsukka carriage way, which is the gateway to the town and has provided unprecedented facelift to the once sleepy and rusty town. Also reconstructed and constructed are networks of roads adorned with streetlights. At the Ede Oballa axis are completed state secretariat annex and international conference. A 5000-capacity international stadium is on the ground.

The State University of Medical and Applied Sciences (SUMAS) Igbo Eno, which is the second university in Enugu North Senatorial zone more than four decades after the establishment of University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN), is already completed and in session for the second year.

The Federal Polytechnic Ohodo, attracted to the zone by the immediate past administration, has commenced academic programmes. All these critical infrastructure, institutions, and development brought to the zone in the last eight years plus have improved the standard of living, brought about the influx of people and investments, added substantial value to assets, human beings, and investments in Nsukka.

Nightlife and the hospitality industry have improved significantly with the massive construction of hotels and nightclubs in Nsukka. As it is today, Nsukka is overdeveloped, prepared, and qualified to serve as the capital of the proposed Adada State. History will be kind to the visionary leader who saw tomorrow and provided the befitting and critical infrastructure in Nsukka that have changed the status and outlook of the town.

Dr. Ben Nwoye, the immediate past Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State, says the demise of Sen. Ayogu Eze, is “devastating” to the members of the national ruling party.

Nwoye in a reaction on Friday in Enugu said that “I am utterly shocked and deeply saddened to learn about the sudden passing of our dear leader.

“The sad news has left me and other members of our great party within the state speechless,” he said.

Nwoye noted that the death is one too many personally to him and to the APC family where the late politician played his last politics on earth.

He said that Sen. Eze until his demise remained a close friend and a big brother to him and many APC party members in Enugu State and beyond.

According to him, how can one begin to rationalise this? This is one death too many.

“We are still trying to come out from the shock of the death of Mrs. Maria Aniobi, the last representative of Enugu at the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission, and now, Ayogu who replaced her is gone.

“Enugu APC has lost an astute leader. He was our Governorship Candidate in the 2019 General Election.

“Sen. Eze is the best Governor we never had from Enugu North Senatorial District,” he said.

The APC leader said that Sen. Eze
was a beacon of strength, wisdom, and compassion, and “his loss leaves a void that cannot be filled in Enugu State APC.”

Nwoye prayed for the repose of his soul and for the Almighty God to give the family and everyone related to the late Senator the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

It would be recalled that Sen. Eze passed on Thursday, April 25, 2024, in an Abuja hospital after a protracted illness.

Taking to his social media handles, Soulja Boy criticized the new law, suggesting that if TikTok could be banned, other apps or sites could potentially face similar restrictions.

His legal representative, Amir Raisian, disclosed on Wednesday that the Isfahan Revolutionary Court’s Branch 1 had pronounced the death penalty for Salehi on the grounds of engaging in activities deemed subversive by the state.

Salehi’s arrest in October 2022 ensued following his public endorsement of the protests against compulsory hijab laws.

The Revolutionary Court leveled accusations against Salehi, citing his involvement in incitement, unlawful assembly, collaboration, dissemination of anti-government propaganda, and incitement to riot.

Following a review of the case by the Iranian Supreme Court, a directive was issued to the lower court to rectify the legal discrepancies in the verdict.
