Five Police Officers Killed, Two Injured in Bauchi Ambush by Fulani Herdsmen
Five police officers have been killed and two others injured after armed Fulani herdsmen ambushed a police tactical team in Sabon Sara village, Darazo Local Government Area, Bauchi State.
The Bauchi State Police Command confirmed the tragic incident in a statement on Sunday, November 23, 2025. CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, the command’s spokesperson, revealed that several of the attackers were neutralized during the ensuing gunfight.
The ambush occurred on November 22, 2025, around 11:30 a.m., when combined tactical units including the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), 10 PMF Bauchi, Anti-Kidnapping Unit (AKU), and State Intelligence Department (SID) were on an intelligence-led patrol to prevent and mitigate farmer–herder clashes in the area.
“The ambush attack resulted in the death of DSP Ahmad Muhammad (SID), ASP Mustapha Muhammad (10 PMF), Inspector Amarhel Yunusa (10 PMF), Inspector Idris Ahmed (10 PMF), and Corporal Isah Muazu (AKU),” the statement read.
“Additionally, Inspector Isah Musa (SID) and Inspector Yusuf Gambo (SID) sustained injuries and were immediately evacuated for medical treatment.”
The Divisional Police Officer, SP Auwalu Ilu, led reinforcements to the scene, ensuring the injured were taken to the hospital and the deceased were deposited at the morgue.
The Bauchi State Police Command is currently pursuing the attackers to bring them to justice.
