Former Nun Weds Ex-Seminarian After Falling in Love Through Prayer

A touching love story has emerged from Brazil as a former Catholic nun, Lais Dognini, tied the knot with Jackson Dognini, a one-time Catholic seminarian, after the two fell deeply in love during shared moments of prayer and faith.

According to O Globo, their journey began when Jackson reached out to pray for Lais while she was battling depression a simple act of compassion that blossomed into friendship and later grew into genuine love.

The couple had first crossed paths over six years ago while serving as missionaries for the Church but barely interacted at the time. Jackson spent five years in the seminary training to become a priest, while Lais devoted two years to a Carmelite convent, fully committed to a life of prayer and service.

After struggling with depression, Lais decided to leave the convent to focus on her healing. During that period, Jackson reconnected with her, offering support, encouragement, and prayers that reignited their bond.

Eventually, Jackson left the seminary after careful reflection on his purpose and calling. The pair officially began dating in April 2024, got engaged in October 2024, and finally exchanged vows in a private ceremony in March 2025.

Sharing their story publicly for the first time on October 7, 2025, Lais wrote on Instagram, “It might not look like much, but the truth is, we’re adults now and we finally know what we want in life.”

Their love story has since gone viral, inspiring many with its message of faith, courage, and the beauty of finding love even in the most unexpected places.
