Former National Chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo and Prince Uche Secondus, have extended their congratulations to Hon. Sunday Udeh-Okoye, the party’s new National Secretary.

In a joint statement released in Abuja on Wednesday, they expressed appreciation to the National Working Committee (NWC) members for their unwavering commitment to upholding the rule of law and maintaining party discipline.

Mr. Ike Abonyi, media adviser to Uche Secondus, communicated their views in a signed statement. Both leaders emphasized that the recognition of Chief Ude Okoye signifies the party’s dedication to democratic principles, portraying it as a genuinely democratic entity.

“Nwodo and Secondus cautioned the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Federal Government to permit opposition parties to operate freely, asserting that a robust opposition is essential for a thriving democracy worldwide,” Abonyi remarked.

The former chairmen also praised the PDP Governors Forum, the Board of Trustees (BOT), and particularly Bala Mohammed, the chairman of the Governors Forum and Governor of Bauchi State, for their steadfast adherence to the rule of law.

The seasoned party leaders encouraged the new National Secretary and the NWC members to focus on fortifying the party, ensuring it remains a formidable contender in upcoming elections.

Furthermore, they advised party leadership to maintain an optimistic outlook and refrain from allowing past conflicts to hinder their vision for the party.
