Former President Goodluck Jonathan Unveils Ambitious Stadium Project in Bayelsa

Former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan has initiated a new stadium project in his home state, Bayelsa, signaling a boost for sports infrastructure in the region.

The project, sited on 40 hectares of land in Igbogene, Yenagoa, will feature a 25,000-capacity international stadium.

The stadium is expected to be completed within 24 months and aims to meet Olympic standards, enhancing the state’s sports capabilities.

During the groundbreaking ceremony, Jonathan emphasized the importance of sports development and its potential to engage the youth positively.

This development aligns with broader efforts to improve sports infrastructure in Nigeria. The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) also launched an infrastructure initiative aimed at advancing football development in the country.

This includes the construction of new playing fields and hostels for youth teams within the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.

Additionally, the federal government has allocated over N12 billion for the rehabilitation and upgrade of the main bowl of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja this year.

These projects reflect a renewed focus on enhancing sports facilities to support athletes and promote sports at all levels.
