From Beats to Business: Lagos Emerges as Continent’s Creative Hub

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared the state Africa’s leading creative hub, attributing its growth to consistent government support for the cultural and entertainment sectors.

According to APC Lagos Publicity Secretary, Seye Oladejo, the state’s rising influence stems from deliberate investments in infrastructure, tourism, transportation, and security, which have empowered youth-driven innovation.

“Under Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Lagos has become the undisputed creative capital of Africa, where beats meet business and imagination meets infrastructure,” Oladejo said on Sunday.

He highlighted “Detty December,” the month-long festival of parties, shows, and entertainment activities, as a testament to the synergy between government enablement and private sector collaboration. “Lagos’ model of support for entertainment, fashion, nightlife, digital content, and hospitality has created thousands of jobs and boosted local enterprises,” he added.

The APC spokesman praised entertainers, content creators, promoters, designers, producers, digital innovators, hospitality professionals, and young people driving innovation across the city. “Your creativity is the jet fuel, and Lagos is the runway ensuring you take off,” he said.

He also noted that improved security, upgraded event facilities, and expanded transportation networks have positioned Lagos as the preferred destination for major concerts and festivals.

Looking ahead, Oladejo expressed confidence that the APC-led government would deepen investments in the creative sector in 2026. “As we enter the new year, the Sanwo-Olu administration will expand tourism infrastructure, strengthen security architecture, and create more opportunities for young entrepreneurs. If Detty December is any indication, Lagos is already scripting a blockbuster future,” he added.
