Ghana’s Ministers Die in Military Helicopter Crash
Ghana is mourning the loss of two senior government officials following a tragic military helicopter crash that occurred on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.
Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, the country’s Minister of Defense, and Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation, were among the eight individuals onboard when the Ghana Air Force aircraft went down.
The crash took place in a forested area near Adansi Akrofuom, close to Obuasi in the Ashanti Region. All occupants of the helicopter including both ministers and military personnel are believed to have died in the incident.
Although the exact cause of the crash remains unclear, the Ghana Armed Forces has launched a full investigation to determine what led to the fatal event.
The sudden deaths of these prominent leaders have sent shockwaves through the country, with tributes and condolences pouring in from political figures, citizens, and international observers.
