Global Outage Hits Elon Musk’s Starlink, Leaves Users Frustrated Amid Widespread Connectivity Failures.
Satellite internet provider Starlink, operated by tech billionaire Elon Musk’s SpaceX, experienced a global outage on Thursday, July 25, 2025, leaving thousands of users without internet access and sparking concern across social media.
Reports of the unexpected disruption began flooding in from multiple countries including the United States, Nigeria, Canada, and parts of Europe shortly after 7 PM (UTC). Users took to X (formerly Twitter) and Reddit to voice their frustration, sharing screenshots of connection dropouts and failed network diagnostics.
DownDetector, a platform that monitors internet service issues, recorded a significant spike in outage reports within minutes, confirming the widespread nature of the problem.
While SpaceX has yet to issue an official statement, Starlink support acknowledged the issue on its status page, stating:
“We are aware of the connectivity issues affecting users globally and are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.”
The outage reportedly affected both individual users and organizations dependent on Starlink’s satellite-based internet services, especially in remote and rural areas where alternative options are limited.
Starlink, which has over 2.7 million subscribers globally, is known for its promise of low-latency, high-speed internet via a network of low-Earth orbit satellites. This outage marks one of the most severe disruptions in its recent history.
