Gombe Police Deploy Personnel to Ensure Safe Maulud Celebration
The Gombe State Police Command has announced comprehensive security arrangements across the state to guarantee a peaceful and orderly Maulud celebration.
According to a statement on Friday by the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, the deployment, sanctioned by Commissioner of Police CP Bello Yahaya, covers all major event venues, procession routes, and other strategic locations.
Abdullahi explained that the security measures include conventional police officers, tactical teams, intelligence units, and operational equipment. “The command has made robust security arrangements to safeguard lives and property before, during, and after the celebration,” the statement noted.
The police reminded residents that the ban on carrying weapons at public events remains in effect, with violators subject to arrest and prosecution. Restrictions on motorcycle movement between 7 pm and 6 am are also still in place to curb crime and maintain public order.
Procession organizers, religious leaders, and other stakeholders were urged to take responsibility for the conduct of their participants, comply with all security directives, and cooperate fully with security operatives during the celebrations.
The Commissioner of Police called on residents to remain law-abiding, report suspicious activity, and avoid any conduct capable of disrupting public peace. While extending felicitations to the Muslim faithful, the command assured that it remains committed to sustaining peace and security across Gombe State.
Maulud, marking the birth of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), is widely celebrated across northern Nigeria with processions, prayers, and community gatherings. Past events have occasionally witnessed security challenges, including clashes, accidents, and opportunistic crimes, prompting preventive measures by law enforcement.
Gombe State police have consistently combined conventional policing with intelligence-led operations and collaboration with community leaders to maintain order during large-scale religious gatherings.
