Gov Adeleke Delights Osun Students with Free Educational Materials and Classroom Furniture
Governor Ademola Adeleke has officially launched the distribution of teaching and learning materials to public schools across Osun State, bringing smiles to countless pupils.
The initiative, aimed at improving education delivery, will also eliminate the need for students to carry chairs from home. At the SUBEB Conference Hall in Abeere, Adeleke, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Teslim Igbalaye, reaffirmed education as a key priority of his administration.
Highlighting past investments, the governor revealed that his government has cleared counterpart funding arrears from 2019 to 2024, constructed and refurbished over 400 classrooms across 139 schools, and provided more than 12,500 sets of furniture for pupils, students, and teachers.
Adeleke further announced significant interventions, including ICT materials, solar systems, and over 1,000 tablets to support school monitoring. Additional efforts include school sports programs, agricultural training, teacher welfare initiatives, and the implementation of the new minimum wage.
He also confirmed that the 2024 UBEC/SUBEB Action Plan is underway, featuring the construction of 333 classrooms, perimeter fencing, boreholes, toilets, and ICT facilities. Monitoring vehicles, motorcycles, and extra furniture are also being rolled out to enhance school administration.
“Today marks the flag-off of instructional materials such as exercise books, markers, textbooks in core subjects, and over 12,000 sets of furniture. Pupils will no longer have to carry chairs from home,” Adeleke stated.
