Governor Aiyedatiwa Gifts Brand-New Toyota SUVs to Ondo Traditional Rulers
Traditional rulers across Ondo State have lauded Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for presenting them with brand-new Toyota SUVs, describing the gesture as timely and commendable.
The presentation ceremony, held in Akure, brought together royal fathers from all 18 local government areas of the state.
Speaking on behalf of the monarchs, the Olowo of Owo and Chairman of the Ondo State Council of Obas, Oba Ajibade Ogunoye, said the vehicles symbolized the governor’s respect and commitment to the traditional institution.
He praised Aiyedatiwa for keeping his promises and affirmed that the royal fathers would remain loyal partners in promoting peace and development.
Governor Aiyedatiwa explained that the gift of the vehicles was part of his administration’s belief that traditional leaders play an indispensable role in governance and community development. Grade ‘A’ Obas received Toyota Fortuner 2025 models, while Grade ‘B’ and ‘C’ Obas are scheduled to receive Toyota Cross 2025 models. The governor emphasized that the gesture was not only a welfare package but also a mark of honour for their service to the people.
Earlier in his tenure, Aiyedatiwa’s administration completed the long-abandoned secretariat for the Council of Obas and ensured the regular disbursement of the statutory five per cent allocation from local government funds to traditional institutions.
Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Amidu Takuro, described the initiative as a testament to the administration’s gratitude for the monarchs’ role in maintaining peace and fostering unity. He encouraged the recipients to use the vehicles to serve their communities effectively.
In closing, Governor Aiyedatiwa reaffirmed his appreciation for the traditional rulers, highlighting their contribution to grassroots governance and cultural preservation.
