Governor Babagana Zulum Approves Deployment of Two New Commissioners to Strengthen Borno State Ministries

Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum has approved the deployment of two new commissioners to ministries as part of a recent cabinet reshuffle.

The new appointees, Engr. Mohammed Habib and Ibrahim Hala Hassan were officially sworn in on August 6, 2025 joining the State Executive Council to strengthen governance and service delivery in the state.

Engr. Mohammed Habib has been appointed as the Commissioner for the Ministry of Environment while Ibrahim Hala Hassan will head the Ministry of Trade, Investment and Tourism.

The deployment also included a reassignment where Mr. Tarpaya Asariya moved from the Ministry of Trade, Investment and Tourism to the Ministry of Inter-Governmental Affairs and Special Duties.

Governor Zulum, during the swearing-in ceremony, tasked the new commissioners with demonstrating unwavering dedication integrity and a strong sense of responsibility to the citizens of Borno State.

The governor underscored that all formal handover and takeover processes should be carried out immediately to ensure seamless continuity in public service.

This move is part of Governor Zulum’s efforts to realign his cabinet for enhanced performance and to address key developmental priorities within the ministries.

The inclusion of new leadership personnel reflects the administration’s commitment to delivering efficient and responsive governance.

Also sworn in at the event was Alhaji Abba Sadiq a new member of the Borno State Judicial Council further cementing the administration’s commitment to strengthening institutional frameworks.

The cabinet changes come as Borno State continues to focus on rebuilding and development amid ongoing security challenge with the government emphasizing inclusiveness, transparency and accelerated progress in all sectors.
